NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH REORGANIZING

Parkersburg, WV, November 2, 2022. Following a nearly two-year COVID-19 shutdown, the Parkersburg and Wood County Neighborhood Watch Co-op, under the oversight of Parkersburg Police Captain Rick Koher and Wood County Sheriff Rick Woodyard, is in the process of reorganizing.

The Co-op is chartered by the Parkersburg Police Department and Wood County Sheriff’s Office to organize and coordinate the activities of all Neighborhood Watch Groups in Parkersburg and the surrounding unincorporated areas of Wood County and plans to expand into Vienna and Williamstown as the reorganization progresses.

A Neighborhood Watch Group is a group of concerned citizens in a small geographic region of a community (usually not more than two or three blocks) who are organized, committed, informed, and structured in a hierarchy of watchers, watch captains, and co-captains or lieutenants.

The Co-op will meet on Thursday, November 10, at 6:00 pm in the City Council Chambers of the Parkersburg City Building, 1 Government Square. All past and present Neighborhood Watch members are urged to attend, as the reorganization effort depends on your participation. Members of the general public are encouraged to attend, especially those interested in starting a Watch Group in your neighborhood.

The guest speaker at this meeting will be Ross Clegg from Code Enforcement. Representatives from the Parkersburg Police Department and Wood County Sheriff’s Office plan to be present to answer any questions and address any concerns you may have for your area.

The Co-op meets on the second Tuesday of every other month. These meetings are for all members of all Neighborhood Watch Groups throughout the county and are open to the public. For additional information please contact Co-op president Cindy Ware at (304) 483-4423 or cindyware59@gmail.com or visit www.pkb-wood-neighborhoodwatch.org
